The Planning and Zoning Board serves as the Local Planning Agency for the Town of Dundee pursuant to the Local Government Comprehensive Planning and Land Development Regulation Act, Ch. 163, Part II, Florida Statutes, and perform all functions and duties prescribed in the statute.  As the Local Planning Agency, the Planning and Zoning Board coordinates the comprehensive planning program and prepares the comprehensive plan, elements, or portion thereof for the Town of Dundee and recommends amendments to the Comprehensive Plan to the Town Commission for adoption as needed. In addition to this role, the Planning and Zoning Board advises and makes recommendations to the Town Commission regarding applications for amendments to the Official Zoning Map, requests for Special Exceptions or other special designations on property within the Town, and approval or denial of various development applications. The Planning and Zoning Board is responsible for obtaining and maintaining information on population, property values, the land economy, land use, and other information necessary to assess the amount, direction, and type of development anticipated in the Town.  At the request of the Development Director, the Planning and Zoning Board interprets and determines the intent of provisions of the Code that are unclear or in conflict with other regulations and considers the need for revision or addition of regulations in the Unified Land Development Code, including the Land Development Regulations, and recommend changes to the Town Commission. Bok Tower Gardens is honored to receive the 100th Automated External Defibrillator (AED) donated by the Culpepper Cardiac Foundation during a special community event on Sunday, July 19, at 2:00 p.m. The presentation will be led by foundation founder Melanie Brown Culpepper Beilke, whose personal journey has inspired a growing movement dedicated to saving lives through public access to AEDs. The public is invited to attend the event and learn more about AEDs, cardiac emergency response, and the critical role these life-saving devices play in improving public health outcomes. The program will include an educational presentation and demonstration designed to empower community members with knowledge that could one day help save a life. To commemorate this milestone and recognize those who serve on the front lines of public safety, Bok Tower Gardens will offer complimentary admission to all Florida first responders on July 19. First responders are encouraged to present valid work identification at the entrance gate to receive free admission. The donation marks a significant achievement for the Culpepper Cardiac Foundation, which has worked tirelessly to place AEDs in schools, churches, businesses, nonprofit organizations, community centers, and public gathering spaces throughout Florida. The AEDbeing installed at Bok Tower Gardens represents the foundation's 100th placement and another step toward its mission of ensuring that life-saving equipment is readily available when every second counts. The foundation was established by Melanie Brown Culpepper Beilke following the tragic loss of her fiancé, Michael Culpepper, to sudden cardiac arrest in 2020. During the emergency, Melanie was asked whether an AED was available. The answer was no. Determined to turn her grief into action, she founded the nonprofit organization to increase access to AEDs and educate communities about cardiac emergency preparedness. Since then, she has become a passionate advocate for heart health awareness, AED accessibility, and first responder support. Through community partnerships, fundraising events, educational outreach, and a growing network of volunteers and supporters, Melanie has transformed a personal tragedy into a life-saving mission. Under her leadership, the foundation has donated dozens of AEDs across Central Florida while also supporting future first responders through scholarships and public education initiatives. Students enjoy yoga and the soothing sounds of the crystal singing bowls in this all levels yoga class. From beginner to experienced, all are welcome. Poses are arranged to target the whole body, with an emphasis on spinal movements, with options to go deeper should the student wish. This is a flow style yoga class, linking movement with breath, and includes gentle warm ups and cool downs. Breath techniques may be used to balance the mind and bring relaxation to the body. Join us for a relaxed and creative hands-on workshop where you'll craft your own beautiful herb basket from start to finish! In this class, you'll weave a charming basket made from natural rattan reed, finished with a sturdy oak handle. Designed to be both practical and decorative, your basket can be used for gathering fresh herbs, flowers, or other treasures or simply displayed as a unique handmade piece in your home. We'll be working with a gorgeous custom color palette created using Rit dye, featuring soothing shades of teal, light blue, and dark green. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and creativity. Most classes run about 4 to 5 hours, giving you plenty of time to slow down, enjoy the process, and leave with something truly special you made with your own hands. About the instructor: My name is Connie Adam and I have been an elementary teacher for 29 years. During that time, I learned to weave baskets. I started weaving in 1989. I was hooked after my first basket. I started teaching basket weaving in 1993 and have continued to the present. I love sharing this skill with as many people as I can. It is one of the oldest forms of crafts and it needs to continue. During this experience Meditation Teacher & singing bowl specialist, Anthony Profeta will use Himalayan Singing bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls, tuning forks, & other vibrational tools to de-stress, restore balance, and bring well-being to your body, mind, & soul. If you are new to a Sound Bath Meditation, it is a very therapeutic form of meditation because as sound waves wash over your body, they move the brain into the more relaxed alpha & theta brainwave states. Sound meditations are wonderful for all types of meditators but are especially good for beginners because the tones & frequencies of the instruments give the mind something to hold onto & help cut through the mental chatter quieting the mind.
